Fitzpatrick wants to cover NW Energy’s butt with a bill to put ratepayers on the hook for the costs of Colstrip, whether it generates power or not.

In a bill to distribute funds from the American Rescue Plan, the Republicans would cut 20% from every grant to any local government with stricter COVID restrictions than the state.

Rep. Wylie Galt (R-Squashem) amended SB169 to make sure college ID won’t, by itself, allow a student to vote: “If you’re a college student in Montana and you don’t have a registration or a bank statement or a W-2, it makes me kind of wonder why you’re voting in this election anyway.”

It looks like four wolf-depredation bills are likely headed for the governor’s desk. This after Gianforte got his wrist slapped for illegally trapping and killing a collared wolf.

Sen. Keith Regier (R-Flatulence) succeeded in carrying SB140, enabling the governor to directly appoint interim judges.

Rep. Rhonda Knudsen amended Sen. Greg Hertz’s SB152 to more than double the tax cut percentage.  She said it was to help the little people.
