Wilderness

March 21, 2018 ~ jcolemanmoore ~ Leave a comment

Tester-Daines.jpg

In fairness to Daines, he wants to reduce Wilderness Study Areas, not eliminate them. Tester’s bill proposes to designate as wilderness 79,000 acres in the Blackfoot-Clearwater drainages.

The blame game

March 21, 2018March 21, 2018 ~ jcolemanmoore ~ Leave a comment

Llew v Steve.jpg

With services for disabled and impoverished Montanans tanking, there’s no shortage of finger-pointing.  Sen. Llew Jones sponsored SB86, the budget-busting bill of 2017. However, he blames Gov. Steve Bullock for mismanaging the state budget.

Bit coin mining

Black Butte is a controversial proposed copper mine in the Little Belt Mountains. The bit coin “mining” site in Butte has now gone online.

Zinke doublespeak

Zinke lands.jpg

Secretary of the Interior (and former Montana congressman) Ryan Zinke took this stance even as the White House leaked a memo proposing the sale of public lands to finance infrastructure.

Legislative policy

Sales Shame.jpg

What Sales actually said was, “If they’re harassed and they don’t come forward, shame on them.”  He’s clearly ignorant of the dynamics of power and harassment, but he’s a lot of fun to draw.

A stable genius

Stable Genius.jpg

I seldom depart from Montana topics, but Trump provides such rich possibilities, he’s hard to ignore.  Ask any cartoonist today.

Corey’s rant

Stapleton.jpg

Secretary of State Corey Stapleton released a screed with the subject line quoted in this cartoon.

Zinky Dinky

Zinke Dinky.JPG

Since his appointment, Secretary of the Interior (and former Montana congressman) Ryan Zinke has provided great material for cartoons.  By the way, did you know he’s a former Navy SEAL?

Gianforte’s mug shot

March 21, 2018March 23, 2018 ~ jcolemanmoore ~ Leave a comment

Gianforte what.jpg

This was the impetus to start producing cartoons again – when U.S. Rep. Greg Gianforte had to go to the Gallatin County jail to have his mug shot taken for assaulting a reporter on Special Election Eve 2017.

About These Cartoons

j.c. moore started producing political cartoons in 1983, focusing on Montana issues.  For 10 years, his work was published weekly in local newspapers.  In 1992, he put down his pens and focused on music.  As 2018 rolled around, the political fodder was too rich to ignore, so he picked up his felt tips again.
