Change of heart

Thomas term limits.jpg

Sen. Fred Thomas (R-Stevensville) strongly backed term limits back in 1992. (I drew the first cartoon back then.) Now he’s saying they not be the best idea. And, in spite of term limits, he has gamed the system to serve a total of 24 years in the Legislature.

Public Service Commissioner Roger Koopman (R-Bozeman) recently ranted another op-ed about climate change. He again decried the “socialist agenda” behind high schoolers taking part in the Climate Strike. And he cited a few (discredited) sources, encouraging readers to “nourish your brains” with … well … to use a word he used last time, “hogwash.”

Giant Fart speaks

To be accurate, here’s what Rep. Greg Gianforte (R-MT) said in a Lee Newspapers interview: “I read the transcript. I don’t think there’s anything there.” Apparently, Montanans elected an illiterate blind guy to the House of Representatives.

Who elected these guys?

PSC Johnson Koopman.jpg

A couple weeks ago, PSC Commissioner Roger Koopman wrote an op-ed piece. In it, he faulted Missoula and Bozeman schools for granting students a half day to take part in climate rallies.  The crisis, he said, “doesn’t exist.”  Lately, PSC Chairman Brad Johnson sent a letter to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, urging it to light a fire under a study on energy reliability. The letter was actually written by American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity, a lobbying group.
